28th ANNUAL

IGLOO BUILDING CLASS

MARCH 27-29

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to sleep in an igloo? Now is your chance to find out! Kim Grandfield has taught this class every winter for 27 years and will be your guide and instructor. We will spend three days in the wilderness near Carson Pass off Highway 88, where you will learn to build igloos large and small as well as tour through some beautiful Sierra backcountry. This class also involves a short pre-trip meeting to discuss snow camping basics, proper gear, and trip logistics.

The group meets early on Saturday, March 27th, to carpool to the Carson Pass area. Then, we use either snowshoes or crosscountry skis to travel to the camp location. Don't worry if you don't have the right gear or don't even know what is the right gear! We have rentals available for most of the necessary gear. The trip is sponsored by the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District. The cost of the class is $112 for Livermore residents and $134 for non-residents. Sign up by calling the LARPD at 925-373-5700 or directly on their web site: http://www.larpd.dst.ca.us/index.html

Many folks have taken this class multiple times because we always have so much fun. A trip you will always remember! For more information, please call Kim at Sunrise Mountain Sports 925-447-8330.
